Why neighbourly love is the only thing that can make mankind's mental icebergs melt or its Armageddon or hell disappear
1784. But between the winter solstice and the summer solstice there is the vernal equinox. Milder spring winds gradually penetrate the cold winter darkness and bring about the awakening of spring or the demise of winter. And this is how it is felt in the mentality of terrestrial mankind too. In the midst of its religious and political world wars, Armageddon or hell, the first gentle winds of spring from the equinox of the great cosmic spiral cycle exist in the form of everything that comes under the concept of "humaneness". This concept thus actually covers only the beginnings of neighbourly love or a sympathy that extends beyond the ordinary married life or living together that is dictated by the interest in the male and female sex and the resulting sympathy for family or kin. Indeed, is not the above-mentioned divine command of neighbourly love precisely such a strong, warming spring wind that it inevitably must melt absolutely all mental icebergs wherever it gains ground? What can remove the frost and cold of hatred, deadly anger, torture and revenge other than the diametrical opposite of these phenomena, namely "love"? Is not warmth the only thing that can eliminate cold? How could coldness be eliminated by coldness? Is it not an obvious fact that mankind's deadly Armageddon, its hell and its belligerent mentality, and therefore its concentrated mental winter coldness, could not possibly be eliminated except by a correspondingly concentrated summer heat?
