The only existing true life and the only existing true death
1792. But how then could this ability to experience exist without being promoted by organs created for this purpose? Why should this experiential state not, like all other experiences, occur as a reaction of energy? And how could these energies react without being directed? And how could they be directed unless it were through instruments or organs for this direction? And since the purpose of this direction is to create the experience of a scale of sensations of life that is bounded by the culmination of darkness and the culmination of light, by the culmination of imperfect existence, and its consequent lowest form of normal well-being, and the culmination of the most perfect existence with its consequent highest or most perfect form of normal well-being or state of health, the object that attracts the being is thus alternately the culmination of darkness and the culmination of light.Since the culmination of light is in turn the culmination or pinnacle of the experience of life, while the culmination of darkness is the lowest point or minimum unfolding or latent form of the experience of life, these two forms of life can be expressed as the greatest opposites or contrasts of existence. These two contrasts, light and darkness, are in reality "the only existing true life" and "the only existing true death".
