1804. Indeed, the world must become accustomed to the idea that the so highly praised and celebrated mating love or one-poled sexuality, no matter how divine it is felt to be by beings who still live in its culminating zone, is not one-directional throughout the entire spiral cycle. He who would like to get to the bottom of the solution to the mystery of life cannot be bound by tradition or be one-directional. He must learn to see that every epoch in the evolution of life is promoted by its particular form of flames from the highest fire. He must see even the most beautiful traditions disappear in order to make space for their opposites, whether they be light or darkness. He must become accustomed to the fact that changing conditions or cycles hold sway here just as well as they do in all other areas of the experience of life. He must become accustomed to seeing his fondest traditions being subject to the alternating laws of the cycle, being alternately puddles of sewage and crystal-clear drinking water, being alternately manure and a most beautiful rose or a delicate, delicious, nutritious fruit and so on, just like everything else in the experience of life. He who cannot ascribe to this view and attitude to the mystery of life cannot for the time being expect to be enlightened or attain initiation or the great birth.
