1805. Everything is thus making progress, is in motion, is subject to transformation from darkness to light and from light to darkness, and so on continuously. And it has long since been established as a fact for us that the one-poled sexuality or mating state is more stable in animals than it is in human beings. In animals the protection of offspring seems more stable than within certain parts of mankind. Do we not see how many people neglect their children? Is there not many a father who will not acknowledge paternity of his child, thus compelling the mother to seek help from the courts or the authorities in order to force the father to acknowledge his responsibility or obligation to support his child? Are there not also many cases of a father or mother leaving their home, their children and their spouse in order to begin a life with a new sexual partner? Is there not many a spouse who is likewise unfaithful during marriage? Indeed, here we need give no further examples of a state that is an evident or well-known fact. Do not the thousands of divorces or broken marriages, the other thousands of unhappy domestic partnerships, and even more thousands of more or less infertile or childless marriages, as well as the many foeticides that are committed show that the one-poled or animal mating drive or marital state is degenerating and breaking down? Where sexual pleasure or acts of copulation occur without the intention of causing fertilisation, and where masturbation is widespread among both sexes, it does not look as if the strict ecclesiastical and judicial moral commands, with excommunication and capital punishment, have been able to keep the terrestrial human sexual drive within the proscribed, dogmatic "ecclesiastical" limits. Thus, the individuals within modern civilisation infringe the "ecclesiastical Christian" teachings and are thereby, from the point of view of the authorised "ecclesiastical Christianity", "unchristian". Of all the millions of people that are perceived as "unchristian", there is certainly not a large percentage that feels the repentance proscribed by the church and says the subsequently necessary prayer for "the forgiveness of sins" and "mercy" during holy communion and the sacraments. They no longer need the church. And since the judicial laws are gradually being liberated from the power of the church and are not determined or built up by the priests or prophets, but on the contrary largely by the above-mentioned "unchristian" citizens in society who have become politicians who do not need, and in most cases have nothing whatsoever to do with, authorised Christianity, indeed, are sometimes downright invincible opponents of every so-called "religious" or cosmic view, what then is there to create understanding, morality and tolerance in terrestrial human sexual life? To this must be added the fact that the highest authority within material knowledge and know-how is so-called modern science, whose representatives and originators are also liberated from the authority of the church. They have also to a great extent grown out of the dogmas of the church. Since they are not real capacities in any particular respect within the mental or spiritual area, they are thus "unchristian" beings. Since these beings are advisers for the "unchristian" or materialistic politicians, the world, or rather its mankind, must inevitably be in the state of spiritual and physical chaos or moral confusion that it is.
