1806. Thus we see that the psyche of terrestrial human beings constitutes a spiritual darkness, a physical and mental moral confusion. This is thus due to a mental transformation that has taken place in the beings' psyche. They have gradually become animated by such strong sexual drives or forces that they are compelled to burst the ecclesiastical dogmatic restraints or moral precepts. Neither punishment, excommunication nor death at the stake could make the forces that developed in the beings conform to the old recognised limits for sexuality. In addition to this there is the enormous development of the beings' capacity for inquiry or intelligence and the intellectuality that this in turn gives rise to. But in the first instance or up to now people have been able to direct this capacity for inquiry and intellectuality towards only matter, whereby a deadly materialism has arisen from the ruins of the life-giving religiosity. The "eating of the tree of knowledge" is finished. The darkness of death hung over the Earth. Everything was hidden in darkness.
