1817. "Desire A" manifests itself as an exaggerated or strong, mobilised feeling in the form of a hunger or desire to be allowed to please the being of the opposite sex that is the object of one's amorous love.Indeed, in this situation there is almost nothing that the being would not do for its beloved.At best, it is prepared to risk its life for the being in question; it is ready to tackle poverty, hunger, misery, humiliation, scorn and ridicule.It is ready to give up its rank and position, if doing so is necessary for it to be in contact with its chosen one.This chosen one or beloved is thus, in the eyes and opinion of the being that is in love, the highest light of its life.Through this, the intoxication of being in love, the beloved is in reality a substitute for the Godhead Himself.Any other relationship to the eternal Father can but pale beside the intense, all-outshining light that this chosen being constitutes for the being that is in love, for as long as this love lasts.Indeed, at its first stages of being in love its beloved is so sacred that the being that is in love hardly dares to approach him or her.There is not even any sexual desire as yet.The attitude of the being that is in love towards its beloved's divinity is so modest and humble, and the latter being's atmosphere or light so radiant and penetrating, that a single, tiny ray, a friendly word, a warm-hearted glance is, for the time being, sufficient to give the being that is in love full satiation or satisfaction, even if it naturally cannot avoid making it dream of an even more intimate, bodily contact later on.
