A review of the various beings' morals and lack of morals within marriage and outside marriage
1830. In accordance with what we have seen here, the main cause of all this widespread marital misery is thus not evolutionary stagnation or moral decline, but, on the contrary, a fundamental degeneration of the actual animal principle of mating itself in the terrestrial human being, which is making its presence felt. The creators of the moral shortcomings that we saw in relation to terrestrial human mating and marriage were to a very great extent beings that proved to be outstandingly developed outside the marital sphere. Many of them were intellectual beings that produced brilliant works of art or had a great role to play in the creation of many other cultural projects towards which they showed great loyalty, energy and self-sacrifice.Within the sphere of these beings there is a far greater number of people who, quite apart from their marital misery or degeneration, extend a sympathy and self-sacrifice to society's cultural phenomena and the building up of society that the previously mentioned "real men" and corresponding "real women", that is to say, the as-yet robust, masculine men and corresponding robust, feminine women, are incapable of.Outside their feel for mating or their attitude to the opposite sex, these latter beings of both sexes can feel only antipathy and jealousy. They are belligerent or hostile towards anyone who hinders or thwarts the satisfaction of their private, selfish desires.Sacrificing oneself for the state and society are thoughts and ideas that only the fewest of these beings are capable of.On the contrary those that are less developed can sacrifice themselves very much for the opposite sex.Indeed, they do not shrink from robbing and plundering, murdering and killing if they find such actions necessary in situations where their object is to conquer and please this sex.For these beings it holds true that – if they have not reached the intellectual stage where they have evolved to the culmination of selfishness, which gives rise to gangster mentality and in which there is neither moral feeling, sympathy or warm-heartedness when it is a matter of them satisfying their culminating selfish desires – their marital relations or mating state is still to a great extent fundamental and stable. Here there is still marital fidelity and happiness in their sexual cohabitation. But, on the other hand, fidelity and sympathy are very much less in relationships outside this cohabitation, that is to say in their relationship to their fellow beings. Here the beings can certainly be amoral, even if they absolutely cannot, of course, be compared to gangsters or other intelligent, but amoral, beings.
