1835. With these above-mentioned categories of terrestrial human beings we have now come so far in our analyses of the terrestrial human stage of evolution that we have arrived at the end of the road with regard to the terrestrial human being's talent for mating or marriage. Within the three categories mentioned above, marriage or the one-poled human beings' mating state exists. We see this state in its most perfect form in "human beings A", and see how it then degenerates in the next two categories. "Human beings B" and "human beings C" thus represent the final stages of marriage. In beings of the next stages marriage is so degenerated that it would be a mistake and an inevitable fiasco for them to enter into it. We will now therefore, before leaving the sphere of this divine principle and going on to the analyses of the next categories, dwell a little on the particular culminating sensation of this principle: the act of copulation itself. It is this act that has been the fundamental source of light, the incentive and the cause of everything that sustains the entire section of the spiral cycle that must be described as the zone of night or winter of life, which in turn is the zone of death of the experience of life. There exists no greater experience of light or feeling of bliss within this sphere of darkness than the experience of a male being and a female being being united so as to become "one flesh" during the act of copulation. This experience – where religion, superstition and unscientific moral views have not yet created restraints or caused degeneration – constitutes the culmination of the experience of life. It is youth's dream in life; it is the fundamental source of light during maturity and the fondest memory in old age. It has promoted the development of the brain; it has created talents for the will, for courage and for seizing power; it has created men and women of steel and equipped them with robust, beautiful bodies, superior intelligence and the ability to act physically. It has brought to their culmination and prime the leading principles of a kingdom, the absolutely vital dark contrasts of a spiral cycle; it has created paradise in the middle of the zone of death; it has been God's voice in a kingdom full of demons and devils. It has been an isolated ray of light from the kingdom of love or the kingdom of heaven in the spheres of hell or hatred. It has been God's guiding hand through abysses, catastrophes, storms and battlefields of the universe; indeed, it has been the latent presence of eternal life itself in the zone of death. It is the living being's unconscious feeling of God's presence in flesh and blood. In truth, the union of two beings of opposite sexes so as to become one flesh in the real bliss of passion is the spirit of the eternal God upon the face of the waters. In the middle of the culmination of the killing principle, in the middle of the terrestrial human being's hell or Armageddon, its wars, murder and processes of mutilation, in the middle of a terrain of life almost totally devoid of love, in the middle of the life cycle's coldest zone of winter and darkest midnight, the act of copulation exists as the eternal flame of the highest fire or life. Even here, buried in the dense mental ice and darkness of existence, it can shine sufficient bliss, light and warmth upon its source, the eternal son of God, so that, through this, it can find its way out of darkness, forwards and upwards towards life's highest pinnacles to the sphere of immortality, omnipotence, infinity and eternity, the culmination of life, the spiral cycle's height of summer or zenith, and here become one with the eternal Father.
The living being's act of copulation in the cold winter or night zone of the spiral cycle is thus a superterrestrial fire or force through which every creation, every experience of life is brought about and revealed. It is God's modelling or creating hand in the sphere of darkness; it is the fundamental, stimulating angel of light in every Gethsemane, and in its innermost nature it is love itself. It is therefore the reason why the Godhead, through his organic structure, in the form of the constellation of the poles can reduce or intensify the very flame of love and thereby create the correspondingly reduced or intensified experiences of the spheres of life that constitute the seasons or various contrasting epochs of the principle of cycles, which in turn are the prerequisite of the experience of life itself. Through the constellation of the poles in the structure of the individual's organism, the eternal Godhead thus regulates his eternal son's experience of light and darkness, his experience of life and death, his experience of time and space, thereby creating the sensory perception or experience of the opposite of time and space, of darkness and light, of life and death, which the Godhead and the son of God in themselves are. Without the creation of this sensory perception, neither the Godhead nor the son of God could ever experience their own all-outshining, sovereign nature beyond time and space, beyond death and destruction, beyond light and darkness, or experience their own identity as "the eternal, imperishable, sovereign living Something".
