1849. Despite outer conflicts and resistance, the innermost tendencies of the terrestrial human beings are sliding more and more in the direction of a greater universal sympathy than the gender-based sympathy of the law of Moses, a universal sympathy that sets neighbourly love far above the principle of reproduction and that shows that the latter principle will not go on being the most important one in life, but, on the contrary, that the most important principle in life can be only a sympathy that, in harmony with the world redeemer's interpretation, unites all beings in the most heartfelt, mental and physical embrace quite regardless of sex, race, nation and world view.Is it not this change of course and view of sympathy and cultural evolution or God's creation of the human being that has determined that "The Old Testament" could not continue to suffice but had to be replaced or supplemented by "The New Testament"?And is it not the same continuous evolution that now determines that this new testament no longer suffices either, but must be explained scientifically instead of being explained only dogmatically or dictatorially as it was previously?And is it not precisely this requirement that now gives rise to spiritual science, the true nature of which can be only the same as the science of neighbourly love and which must therefore be a third and final testament.After this testament no human being will need any guidance from others any longer; it can be led right up to its own great initiation or spiritual birth, after which it itself will be elevated to being at one with the Father and the world picture, and will itself thereby be the way, the truth and the life.
