How an accelerated development of the being's opposite pole structure and the resultant excessive enlargement of this structure can arise
1856. For both of these exaggerated pole types, the "masculine woman" and the "feminine man", it holds true that the new disposition in their consciousness is not nearly as developed as that of their normal pole, which is many incarnations old and has now been forced far too much into the background by the excessive enlargement of the opposite pole and its consequent control of the being's day-consciousness. This enlargement is thus based not on evolution, for, if it had been, it would not have been abnormal. It is, on the contrary, based on the circumstance that its source at one or another point in time in a previous life was the subject of a sexual seduction or some other kind of abnormal relationship that accelerated the activity of the sexual train of thought in the being concerned and its flight from the normal line of evolution. The particular sexual orientation arising from this has thereby gradually become a habit of consciousness, just as, for example, drinking or smoking tobacco or other abnormalities of consciousness can become a habit, an excessive desire that in the most difficult cases can be controlled only after having resulted in a catastrophe. This sexual seduction or other cause of the derailment could have been carried out, for example, by an adult whose tendency to seek sexual satisfaction with its own sex had degenerated to such an extent that it was not content with sexual relations with adults but was so derailed that it desired sexual relations with the immature, with infants or children. Since terrestrial mankind is very far on in its process of sexual transformation, and its opposite pole is developing to a greater or lesser extent and is to the fore in all civilised human beings, a corresponding, albeit unconscious, tendency to have sympathetic feelings for one's own sex already resides deep down in every single human being, but it does not, and preferably should not, come to its originator's knowledge or waking day-consciousness in any other way than through the normal development of the poles that is discretely and gently or imperceptibly promoted by Nature itself. Then, as we will see later, it will not cause all the anguish and abnormalities that it now gives rise to through the far too accelerated development initiated by people themselves.
