1884. The superior morality of human being I has resulted in the fact that the evolution of its opposite pole is kept in a normal relationship to its ordinary pole. We do not see, therefore, within the organic domain of human being I the particularity, which holds true on many of the steps in the transformation of the poles, that a masculine organism or manly body is directed or simply possessed to an exaggerated extent by femininity, or that a female organism is possessed or controlled by a relatively exaggeratedly developed masculinity. Human being I is therefore not a being that apparently presents itself as a woman in a male organism or as a man in a female organism. It is certainly very close to the stage where the poles are equal, but the feminine tendencies and the masculine tendencies are here very naturally organised and come into play only in the areas of the psyche or consciousness that are intended for these tendencies. We see therefore that human being I can have an even more masculine tinge in certain situations where a strong hand or great authority is needed at the same time as the same being can also have a correspondingly strong and perfect feminine tinge in particular situations where a very sensitive, gentle and careful hand is needed. The consciousness of human being I thus spans a colossal scale of masculine and feminine attributes. In humane, moral, creative processes it can display a fearlessness and an unfailing act of will that in steadfastness and firmness cannot be outdone by even the most masculine of men at the same time as, in the same processes, it can alleviate situations and remove all dangerous, sharp mental edges and splinters with a caressing hand that sometimes outshines the warm-heartedness of a mother's love.
