1888. Hitherto, when this maturity began to take effect in the psyche of human being I, the conditions that enabled this being to evolve further here on Earth were no longer present. And thus there was no longer any basis for this being's rebirth or incarnation in the sphere of the Earth. When the advanced human being I could thus no longer evolve further here on Earth it was due to the fact that the spiritual maturity that animated the being gave rise to an absolutely irrepressible desire to experience the complete solution to the mystery of life and the resulting real, both physical and mental world picture. This desire could be satisfied only by an experience of the truth or the structure of the world picture as a comprehensive analysis that was a real, wakingly day-conscious fact or science. A human being I has of course long since gone beyond the stage in which belief and hypotheses or dogmas can fully satisfy its spiritual hunger, at the same time as it has also passed the materialistic, godless stage and its resulting region of dark fate. Because of its sexual pole constellation it has reached the sphere of humaneness or neighbourly love. But it lacks cosmic knowledge, apart from the fairly microscopic cosmic glimpses it may have experienced now and then. Hitherto here on Earth there has been no outer mental sphere of such a high evolutionary level that the analyses of the mystery of life or the world picture in its mental state existed as accessible concrete science that could be investigated and thereby experienced as fact. The highest concrete or absolute knowledge within terrestrial mankind was materialistic knowledge, which ignores, indeed, even combats, real spiritual science by denying the immortal I in the living being and likewise denying the same living, immortal something or I behind the universe or the cosmos itself. In so doing it actually denies all life and has only "chance" as the first and last cause of life, as its alpha and omega. Such a view of life cannot provide a basis for morality, neighbourly love or contact with Providence or the Godhead. On the contrary it promotes complete spiritual blindness or ineptitude in the field or mental sphere where its only access to the experience of the very highest knowledge of life exists. Since this highest knowledge alone, which is also described in the Bible as "the Comforter, the holy Ghost", is the foundation on which is based the entire principle of world redemption or the salvation of mankind or the liberation from the killing principle, its complete transformation from animal to human being, one will here be able to understand why peace, light and happiness cannot follow in the wake of an absolutely cold, godless, materialistic science. A materialistic, godless mental sphere must of course inevitably become the hell or Armageddon that now more than ever culminates in the "war of everyone against everyone else".
