1906. We are now familiar with the entire evolution of the poles in the epoch from "animal" to "human being", and we know that it consists precisely of the growth of the opposite pole from its latent stage to being a day-conscious vital factor equal to the ordinary pole in human being J, this pole transformation having caused the "animal" to become a "human being". This new being, the real human being, differs thus from the "animal" in that its sexual hunger is no longer a one-poled hunger or satiation. Its day-conscious experience and manifestation of life are a display of harmony, unity, equality, femininity and masculinity. That these two vital factors in the being still appear as the principle of hunger and satiation is a matter of course. If the opposite were the case it would of course mean standstill. Everything in life goes precisely from a latent state to a culminating state and from a culminating state to a latent state. This rhythmic movement is borne solely by the principle of hunger and satiation. But since the being is now both male and female at one and the same time, this can give rise to a hunger and satiation characterised by both the male and the female sex. That this sexual form – which is the real human being's form of life, one that is elevated above the animal – cannot be expressed normally or in a perfectly worthy way in a specifically male body or in a specifically female body is naturally a matter of course. Since human being J has to live in such a body, it is physically still an unfinished being. Through the analyses of the feminine man and the masculine woman and the other sexually derailed beings, we have already seen how unfortunate the evolution of the two poles can be in a body that is designed or formed as an organ for the display of one of the poles.
