1933. But the laws of life determine that the beings shall move forwards in the cycle or evolution. And this is brought about by the opposite pole, the one that is latent in the being, beginning to develop, and this development does not stop until this pole is equal to or in balance with the ordinary pole. With the development of the opposite pole, which is the seat of the being's intellectuality, the being begins to get a sphere of consciousness that lies quite outside the purely mating sphere. Here instinct, feeling and some intelligence and later some intuition begin to make their presence felt in the consciousness. This sphere of consciousness is the incipient "human consciousness". And with this evolution, the animal is now no longer purely animal. It is now something between the perfect god-like human being and the animal. The animal aspects of the human being have also been called "evil", while the incipient humane aspects of the human being have been called "good". Good increases in the unfinished human being, while evil to a corresponding degree decreases as this being evolves. The humane qualities in the human being, or the new sphere of consciousness that turns the "animal" into a "human being", is thus promoted by the growth of the latent pole in the being, that is to say, of the masculine pole in the woman and of the feminine pole in the man. The beings that belong to this category of incipient human beings, to which species the terrestrial human being belongs, are therefore not purely "male" beings and "female" beings. And we do not refer to them as such either, but express them on the contrary as "men" and "women" respectively. In the future in the new world culture one will perceive men and women as incipient two-poled beings.
