1935. With regard to the two poles, the ordinary pole, that is to say the masculine in the man and the feminine in the woman, has its centre of release in the sexual organs. The latent or opposite pole, that is to say the masculine in the woman and the feminine in the man, has its centre of release in the organs of the brain. In the normal terrestrial human being these two centres are still clearly separate. But gradually, as evolution takes place and the opposite pole grows, a connecting line, a kind of major mental nerve, grows between the two centres. It begins as a shining offshoot from both centres, that is to say, from the brain and from the sexual centre in the region of the spinal cord. These two offshoots continue to grow until one day they reach one another and immediately make a connection. This in turn then means that at the same moment full contact is also made between the sexual centre of the brain and the sexual centre for mating or sympathy. The being becomes completely wakingly day-conscious of its opposite pole, which at that very moment is overshadowed by the sexual centre for sympathy. There then arises in the being sympathy or love for its own sex, but this love has nothing to do with marriage. Indeed, this new feeling of sympathy differs even from the previous sexual sympathy – which was a mobilisation of energy for mating and thereby for the desire to own or possess another being that we know as "amorous love" – by being true love. This in turn means a display of energy that absolutely does not aim at possessing or owning someone or something but has only an all-outshining feeling of pleasure in serving everything and everyone in harmony with the divine laws. The appearance of one's fellow beings as man or woman is no longer the object for culminating love; this object is, on the contrary, the "human being" in the human being. One feels that one is at one with everything and everyone, that is to say, at one with God. One has the same feeling as Christ had when he said, "I and my Father are one". Everything is now incorporated in the sympathetic faculty; everything is flames from the very highest fire. And not until then has the terrestrial human being become a real human being. It is in this fire or sexual state that the observance of the law of love, and thereby the maintenance of the universe itself, reaches its peak.
