1937. After attaining this equality or balance of the poles the individual travels in the two-poled state through the real human kingdom, the kingdom of wisdom, the divine world, the kingdom of bliss and into the plant kingdom. But in the plant kingdom the "creation of Eve" recurs, which means that here the pole that was the ordinary pole in the being's previous cosmic spiral cycle begins to stagnate. The pole that determined that the being was a male being in the animal kingdom of the above-mentioned spiral now begins to stagnate and become latent, while the pole that was latent in the above-mentioned kingdom now, on the contrary, gains the freedom to grow. This thus means that the being here changes sex. If the masculine pole was latent in the being in the previous spiral cycle, the feminine pole was thus the primary one, and the being was female. Since this pole now stagnates in the new spiral cycle, and the opposite pole becomes the primary one, the being becomes male in the new spiral cycle. This sexual state, which determines the culmination of darkness, continues from the plant kingdom into the animal kingdom, where it culminates in order to then degenerate in the terrestrial human being. And after this degeneration the being is double-poled again, whereby the highest light is again given conditions for culminating in its consciousness. It is this incipient double-poled state in the animal kingdom that transforms the being from an animal into a terrestrial human being. Where the latent pole begins to develop, the transformation occurs. With this pole the human consciousness begins in the animal. And in this epoch of transformation the being continues to be a representative of the so-called "evil" and the so-called "good" until the transformation is complete and it attains the great birth and the resulting cosmic consciousness. As is apparent from the above, the highest fire's balance point or perfect culmination, which in turn means the equal unfolding of the two poles, requires for its unfolding a span of two cosmic evolutionary spirals. The being thus cannot in a normal and perfect way experience the culmination of being male and female in one cosmic cycle. It can experience the culmination of being the one sex and likewise the culmination of the double-poled state in one cosmic spiral cycle, but it does not experience being the opposite sex until the next spiral cycle. The beings that are male in this spiral will thus be female in the next, just as those that today are female in the same way will be male in the same future spiral cycle. One would be mistaken in believing that from the one terrestrial life to the next terrestrial life one can alternate between being a man and a woman. Both manifestations require a long epoch of evolution behind them. Masculinity and femininity are strokes of genius; they are organic products based on talents that are built up in the same way as all the other vital functions in the being's organism or bodily regions. Just as one cannot change one's respiratory system, one's digestive system, one's cardiac system and so on from one life to another, one cannot in a normal way change one's sexual organs and thereby their functions into fundamentally new faculties and methods of unfolding either. Only by fulfilling the law of the eternal principle of the cycle can the possibility for any change in manifestation, creation and experience be revealed.
